A golf trip lives or dies on the boring admin nobody wants to do, so do it early and do it once. Lock the roster before you book anything — a firm yes from every player, not a maybe — because a foursome that quietly becomes a threesome two days out wrecks the tee times and the room split. Collect the money up front, ideally the whole lot, so you are never the one chasing a mate for their share of the green fees from a bar stool. Build fair teams off handicaps rather than friendships: pair a low marker with a higher one so the matches stay close and everyone still has something to play for on the back nine.
Pick one or two games for the whole week and stick with them — a running points match over the trip, say, or a simple skins pot — rather than inventing fresh rules every morning at breakfast. Keep a single running scoreboard everyone can see, settle nothing until the last putt drops on the final day, and glance at the forecast before you travel so a wet Tuesday becomes a planned nine holes rather than a washout that catches you cold.
Organising a League or a Charity Scramble
A league is really just a schedule plus honest scoring, repeated week after week. Set the fixture list before the first tee time, settle on one scoring method — net Stableford is kind to a field of mixed abilities — and use it every single week so the standings actually mean something by the end. Keep the handicaps current and the table where people can see it, and the competitive needle looks after itself.
A charity scramble is a different animal, built for a big, mixed, once-a-year crowd. The format is a four-person best-shot: everyone tees off, the group picks the best ball, and all four play their next shot from that spot. Run a shotgun start so every group sets off at once and finishes together, which means the prize-giving happens while people are still there to enjoy it. Much of the money comes from the extras rather than the entry fee — sell mulligans, put a longest-drive and a nearest-the-pin prize on a couple of holes, and run a raffle at dinner — while keeping the golf itself simple enough that first-timers have a good day and come back next year.
What's Inside the Kits
Each kit is a set of print-at-home templates you fill in by hand — the planning pages, trackers and scorecards that turn a good intention into an event that genuinely runs. None of it needs an app or a login; you print what you need and reuse it as often as you like.
The Golf Trip Commissioner's Kit is for the person who ends up organising the annual trip — itinerary and rooming pages, team-draft and match-scoring sheets, and a ledger for the side bets, so the whole week is planned and settled on paper.
The Golf League Season Kit is for whoever runs a weekly league — a season schedule, week-by-week result cards, a standings table, handicap sheets and a dues ledger to keep things straight from opening night through to the playoff.
The Scramble & Charity Tournament Kit is for the volunteer running a fundraiser — registration and sponsor trackers, team cards and scoring, printable course signage and awards, so a big field runs smoothly and raises a little more.
The Round Journal & Improvement Log is for the individual golfer who just wants to get better — round-log pages that capture fairways, greens, putts and up-and-downs so the parts of your game quietly leaking shots start to show themselves.
Whichever you pick, the idea behind it is the same: honest, well-organised paper that does the dull admin for you, so you can get on with the golf.
